The game has fucking changed, noted reader. I’m doing the Planewalkers spiral in a way that I’ve never done any other project before, but at the same time, I’m doing what I’ve done from the very beginning: writing short stories which will be connected to a novel. Novels. In the case of Planewalkers, it will be novels.
So I’ve taken down the schedule from my bibliography page. Also, I put my creator page picture as my facebook picture and I got several likes. Bow.
But Planewalkers. I’m not sure if I’ve explained it before or not, but this is what’s going on: The Face of Fear, the Untitled Bigfoot Project backbook, was arc I of Planewalkers. Arc II will be released next, and then arc III will come after arc III of THaN, arc III of THaN being a short story anthology set in Universe W-666, specifically in the land of Kessr’s Flight.
The Face of Fear takes place over the course of 7 days, most of which are spent on an island surrounded by the Ouroboros River, as Albey the Mad Poet calls it. That island is at the center of a patch of burnwood trees which lies in the southeastern part of a valley surrounded by a towering crag, a vertical wall of earth as though the very ground shifted with the intent of creating such a valley… yeah, fuck you, the endless wood is alive, anyway, the burnwood patch is one of 8 major landmarks I’ve mapped out thus far. Looking at the map right now there might be more, but I’ll leave that up to time. I’ve posted a picture of an ashtray covering the map of Kessr’s Flight on the Instagram of you want a purposefully limited look at it. I have a lot of notes taken, thousands of words of notes taken, noted reader, and I’m writing it all in canonical order, from the beginning, to the end. Aside from the week I have already written about in TFoF, I am starting from the beginning and I’m going all the way to the end, and I’ll release the books as they come into form along the way. That means, realistically, it’s going to be released in the order I originally planned: Planewalkers III, THaN III, Planewalkers IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII.5
Christ, I often wonder why I can’t write my real fiction as fast and loosely as I write this. And then I always realize it’s because I actually put effort into the real fiction and therefore it will take longer. 1,000 words in a day isn’t going to be the norm, not by a fucking longshot, but for right this second i’m happy about it. Could have gotten a lot less done, you know what I mean?
But as for what I’ve written… it’s going to be a short story. Might technically be a story, length-wise, but I’m expecting within 10,000 words. All I’m going to tell you right now is that it’s the first story in the lore. Which shouldn’t be a reveal. I told you, I’m starting from the beginning and going to the end in a straight arrow. It’s going to be great. I’m beyond excited and happy to be doing this, ‘man, I love The Endless Wood.
Just to be clear, nothing has actually changed, I just figured out better labels and am reporting to you, my noted reader, as such. I was originally planning on waiting until the story was done, but then I decided to exert my power as The Bookmaker and take control of the moment and write up this little ditty.
Checking in twice a week is feeling like the move. I’ve been moving in ways that feel right on many, many levels lately, noted reader. Y’gotta understan’, I’m not like other human beings. I’m not saying I’m better, that’s you who’s saying that, but at the end of the day I’m just a psychephrenic dude who really enjoys making books out of the world in his head, a ‘man who just happens to have the sense to make a library out of his work. I’m going to be accepting stuff from other creators in the future, maybe even in the near future, I don’t know. Anything made for The Hillside Commons would have to be available for free (with the option to buy if you wish) through The Hillside Commons. As far as money goes, I’d just set up a Pay With PayPal thing with your email and folks would pay the creators directly. I’m not going to fuck around with that at all, like, if you want to support The Hillside Commons there are ample ways, that is on you. If you want to support the individual artists, that option is going to be there.
I’m listening to Hymn for a Scarecrow by Tally Hall right now and Joe Hawley is telling me to fly. He is also standing atop a ladder tapping on my window, but that’s quite all right. He’s the greatest musical genius of the modern era, you’ll be pretty fucking hard pressed to convince me otherwise of that. Anyhow, I’m tryna fly, so here’s a fat sloppy rendition of The Note just for your hairy ass specifically, Antoine.
Since you’re there, noted reader, thank you for being there. From this day on, we move forever forward~
